A Table

by Leslie Jacobs

Is this my new line of work? I love the whole process of finding or being gifted a piece of furniture and deciding on colors and function of the piece. I was going to stack the table and use as shelves, but I think it needs to be a table.

I was harassed by a College Professor

by Leslie Jacobs

Twice a week I’d go to my English class on the University of Bridgeport campus. It was an okay class except for the Professor. He turned me off with his sexual humor.

One day, I was looking at college rings in the student center. The Professor stop by and told me infront of the women selling the rings. If I wanted an A in his class I’d have to meet him at the motel down the street.

The women’s mouth dropped open. I laughter it off and walked away from him.

The next week a fellow classmate and I decided to tell the head of the English dept. the secretary was there-and after hearing our stories-she assured us both of us would pass and he’d not be teaching at UB anymore.

I’m very thankful to all the women who speak out and I pray one day -every woman will be believed-like we were.

New Organizing Tips

by Leslie Jacobs

Use the excess from your animals’ water dish on your plants-then refill the bowl. It helps the planet and you won’t waste the water. I’ve been doing this for six months as I received the most wonderful dog “Snickers” a year ago.   He has made me feel happier and healthier as I have lost a few pounds this year.  I’ve lost a total of 50—but it’s been over a few years.

To lose weight change your taste buds. Trade in your soda fix for non caloric drinks such as flavored spring water or seltzer. This will jump start your taste buds to change over the next few weeks. You’ll lose weight and you will get to a place where soda will taste horrible.

Its feels great to not crave soda anymore. You can feel that way too!

Happy Birthday Mare

by Katie

Today is my BFF’s Birthday. We met the first week of college and have been friends ever since. She is truly one of the most genuinely caring people in my life.

Once, a few years ago she called me and I just started crying and she did the same thing when I had my traumatic hair cut when we were in college. She Took Care of me! She talked me down and helped me see what I could do for myself.

With the haircut, she took me to a funny movie and we had pizza with Diet Coke. With the phone call she sent me a care package.

I love you Mare ! Happy Birthday!

Organizing Tips For You

by Leslie Jacobs

I’m attempting to be less a consumer and more of a minimizing saving the earth way. Minimalist living is the ultimate goal but I’m giving myself a few years to get there.

My greatest luxury and greatest indulgence is books. I was an early adopter of the kindle. I usually buy books with the kindle if I’m not using the library. Although my fantasy is to have entire bookcases filled to the brim with hardcover books-I resist. Yes! I Do!

If you want to resist with me. Go to Menu ( top right) and sign up for Organizing Tips. You will be so glad you did.

Living in CT

by Leslie Jacobs

I started this post to complain about my taxes. But, I’ve decided to stop complaining and just be grateful. Grateful that I live in a nice city with great neighbors and wonderful friends. I’m grateful for my friends and family and Hot Black Coffee and Tea. In the summer, I’m grateful for ice and air conditioning.

Thats it. I’m grateful. Let the good times role.

Hey Republicans---can you just be nice and care about our country?

by Leslie Jacobs

Ive been a registered republican since I turned 18 and came home from college to register to vote. I had to be a republican. My father had died two years before and I'd take over his roots.

Years later Ive been an elected member to town committees, board of educations and commissions. So, this is to tell you I've been around for a while--and the Republicans are just not nice, out for blood and it's money, money, money.

It seems to me they don't care about people. Or is that just me? Yes, I'm changing to be an independent.
