How to plan a day at the beach

by Leslie Jacobs

Whether you live near the beach or are planning a day trip after looking at Orlando houses for sale, a beach trip is always needed. Spending a day at the beach can be enough relaxation to last for the rest of the month, but the preparation before can quickly ruin your stress-free day. If you are planning a day at the beach, use the following tips to make sure the only thing on your mind is remembering to reapply sunscreen.

Pack a Bag for Essentials

The most important thing you are going to need on a beach trip is sun protection, no matter the temperature. Get a bag big enough to fit towels, hats, sunscreen, sunglasses, clothing changes, and anything else you think you should bring to the beach. It is also usually a good idea to bring another bag that can get wet, so you have a place to store your wet swimsuits when the day is done, instead of ruining the leather seats in your car. Feel free to bring any other essentials you think you are going to need, but keep in mind that you will have to carry it all back when the day is done.

Bring Plenty of Food and Drinks

The words that can ruin a beach trip faster than anything else are the words “I’m hungry” when you do not have any food. You do not have to bring your entire pantry, but sandwiches, granola bars, individual bags of pretzels or chips, and other snacks that are perfect for one person to eat at a time will avoid getting sand and saltwater in food that everyone is sharing. In a small cooler, bring plenty of water bottles, as the sun tends to dehydrate you quickly. If you plan on bringing plastic water bottles and other wrappers that are disposable, bring a bag dedicated to collecting trash, which will keep the beach clean and make clean up easier.

Bring Beach Toys

When it comes to entertainment, the sand and the water can only be so much fun on their own, especially if you are bringing smaller children. To avoid boredom meltdowns, pack a small bag of toys that will keep your kids occupied. A trip to your local dollar store could get you all of the toys you need, and you won’t feel as bad about losing or ruining a toy that only cost you one dollar. If the people you are going with are a little too old for building sandcastles, bringing a good book may be all you need. As long as you enjoy the company you keep, you are bound to have a fun beach day.

Beach days may sound stressful, especially for parents of young children, but as long as you prepare yourself ahead of time, you will be sure to make some of the best memories with a day on the beach.
