Happy Birthday Mare

by Katie

Today is my BFF’s Birthday. We met the first week of college and have been friends ever since. She is truly one of the most genuinely caring people in my life.

Once, a few years ago she called me and I just started crying and she did the same thing when I had my traumatic hair cut when we were in college. She Took Care of me! She talked me down and helped me see what I could do for myself.

With the haircut, she took me to a funny movie and we had pizza with Diet Coke. With the phone call she sent me a care package.

I love you Mare ! Happy Birthday!

Organizing Tips For You

by Leslie Jacobs

I’m attempting to be less a consumer and more of a minimizing saving the earth way. Minimalist living is the ultimate goal but I’m giving myself a few years to get there.

My greatest luxury and greatest indulgence is books. I was an early adopter of the kindle. I usually buy books with the kindle if I’m not using the library. Although my fantasy is to have entire bookcases filled to the brim with hardcover books-I resist. Yes! I Do!

If you want to resist with me. Go to Menu ( top right) and sign up for Organizing Tips. You will be so glad you did.

Have an Organized Day!

Living in CT

by Leslie Jacobs

I started this post to complain about my taxes. But, I’ve decided to stop complaining and just be grateful. Grateful that I live in a nice city with great neighbors and wonderful friends. I’m grateful for my friends and family and Hot Black Coffee and Tea. In the summer, I’m grateful for ice and air conditioning.

Thats it. I’m grateful. Let the good times role.

Hey Republicans---can you just be nice and care about our country?

by Leslie Jacobs

Ive been a registered republican since I turned 18 and came home from college to register to vote. I had to be a republican. My father had died two years before and I'd take over his roots.

Years later Ive been an elected member to town committees, board of educations and commissions. So, this is to tell you I've been around for a while--and the Republicans are just not nice, out for blood and it's money, money, money.

It seems to me they don't care about people. Or is that just me? Yes, I'm changing to be an independent.

I’m “Too Honest” for most people to handle

by Leslie Jacobs

If you ask me a question I’m going to give you a very honest answer. So they ask, I answer sometimes using tact, and I lose friends, or so called friends from politics, public relations, Assyrian family members and whatnot. The question I ask is about the family member and if peril came to that member You’re opinion would change on so and so. It’s a question that was asked in a 1988 presidential debate.

The people I’ve posed the question to get so upset that they block me, or eliminate the convo on FB. Can you believe people are so sensitive? Just because you say something it  doesn’t mean its going to come true! Because my taxes would be paid and  I’d be on a cruise to Europe.

No, still in CT.

If you’re not afraid, ask me a question.

It Sucks to be on Food Stamps

by Leslie Jacobs

I work therefore in a perfect world I’d make enough to afford food, heat, clothes and shelter.

But it’s not. So I depend on DSS of CT to give me $191 a month for nourishment.  They wanted paperwork Turbo Tax won’t give them after a certain time. So I waited a month. It was the holidays and food was being given to me at a wonderful rate.  In January I applied again online and they called. On a Saturday when my phone was turned off. So I called back on Monday , and then on Tuesday waiting at least two to three hours and then I had to go to work. I have two jobs and my organizing business.  If I can’t reach them by phone Ill just go down there. At 9am the line was out the door. I got inside about 10am. Seeing the 47 people in line ahead of me-I felt loss until a woman sitting next to me told me to call DSS Commission. I’m waiting for a call back.

Wish me luck!

I marched and then I Bengayed.

by Leslie Jacobs

This past weekend my friends and I marched to show our strength with all issues happening in this world today. We will march until we don’t need to anymore.

Actually, I bengayed, took a pain pill and rested on my back pillow. Took me two days to recover-maybe next year it will only take me one.
